We are fighting with these officials who are being very dismissive and not taking this seriously. This dog farm and auction house is operating illegally on the City’s land and it is imperative that they start enforcing the law and demanding not only closure of the establishment but also to assess steep fines. The dogs who are sold at this farm/auction house are immediately transported to slaughterhouses if not being slaughtered on-site. It’s inhumane and abhorrent in this day and age. The Korean nationals fighting against this need to know how many of us there are who are supporting them. Thank you so much for your help!

As COVID19 causes chaos all over the world, you must know that it is incredibly important to not only regulate dog farming but to perhaps find alternative solutions to the consumption of dog meat in order to prevent the next global pandemic from taking root. Korea is no stranger to viruses caused by filthy, unsanitary farming conditions – most notably the African swine fever that broke out in Paju. Viruses such as this not only cause illness among human consumers but also gravely impact economic livelihoods. All phases of dog farming are indisputable breeding grounds for animal to human transmission of zoonotic diseases that put the entire world in jeopardy.
It’s not a matter of IF there be another plague, but WHEN. Together we can make Ganghwa Island a city to be recognized for positive contributions to society and help them become a leader in setting standards for others to follow. The rich soil of the region and its proximity to the Han River make Ganghwa a prime farming location for root vegetables that not only benefit human health but also help promote a sustainable job industry.
Please become part of the solution and pave the road for other cities to follow to help protect future generations from suffering similar grave health consequences.
